Our Assurance Office (AO) team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, AB. The AO, Investigation manager will report to the AO and be responsible for leading a highly specialized team of internal and/or external Investigators and Root Cause Specialists located in Canada, US, and Mexico.
The AO Investigation Manager will be accountable for systemic trend analysis and the distribution of shared learnings across Business Units and Corporate Functions. The successful candidate will have knowledge of Health, Safety, Process Safety, Pipe Integrity, Asset Integrity, Security, and Emergency Management and will have a passion for collaboration, building relationships, and driving operational excellence and value for the organization.
- Travel will be required within Canada, United States, and Mexico.
What youll do
Accountable for the planning and execution of independent investigations and root cause analysis that spans multiple jurisdictions and various types of work activities and disciplines by providing leadership and guidance to a team of highly specialized, internal or external, Investigators and Root Cause Specialists
Extensive interfacing with 3rd party service providers (ie Engineering Firms and Legal Firms) and internal key stakeholders (Legal, Engineering, Human Resources, Internal Audit and Compliance, Regulatory, and Supply Chain)
Recommend and plan appropriate resources and execute investigations and root cause analysis; develop investigation teams by strategically leveraging, engaging, and scheduling multi-disciplinary subject matter experts within the Assurance Office and across the organization or through the recruitment of external talent
Oversee the development of governing documents for Investigation and Root Cause Analysiss ie Standards, Processes, and Procedures
Accountable for the identification and distribution of emerging risks and trends from completed internal and external investigations and root cause analyses, strengths, systemic challenges, opportunities for improvements, and nonconformances with internal and regulatory requirements
Establish individual investigation budget for each investigation and root cause analysis activities ongoing as well as plan yearly team budgets and adjust forecasts
Collaborate with Supply Chain to secure multiple 3rd party services to lead or support independent incident investigations and root cause analysis
Oversee compliance to all relevant Federal, Provincial, local regulatory requirements, and company policies and procedures in relations to investigations and root cause analyses
Validate and assess investigation reports, root cause analysis reports, inclusive of recommendations
Relevant post-secondary education
10 years of relevant experience, oil, gas, and power operations and project experience
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
Root Cause Analysis Training
Experience with NEB, PHMSA, State or Provincial Regulators in relations to Health, Safety, Process Safety, Pipe Integrity, and Facility Integrity
People development, facilitating performance, and strategic thinking
Experience with Health, Safety, Process Safety, Pipe Integrity, Asset Integrity, Industrial Controls, Management Systems, Economics and Supply Chain
Advanced work experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis
Advanced experience in application of Operating Management Systems
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for all levels of organization
Strong planning, organization, and prioritizing skills
Able to manage multiple and conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to influence and initiate change
Experience in auditing is beneficial
Working knowledge of SAP is beneficial as this role will utilize various SAP applications and interfaces (Quality Module, Audit Module, EHSM Module, Work Manager) for the purposes of tracking assurance related activities and findings
Spanish and/French language is an asset
Additional role requirements
Have and maintain a valid drivers license
Provide a drivers abstract for review
This position will require travel across Canadian, US, and Mexico borders and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable document to this affect and maintain
