Job Description

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Business Planning and Performance, this position is responsible to provide leadership and support in the effective assessment, development, implementation and sustainment of systems and processes to support business requirements for the Energy Supply group.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:
Provide leadership and support in the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of systems and processes for the Energy Supply group.
Conduct research and analyse information to support decisions related to implementing new, or replacing/upgrading existing, systems and processes. Translate business requirements and provide recommendations concerning project prioritization, scope, schedule, and resource requirements, including costs.
Ensure issues are identified, tracked, and timely resolutions are attained.
Work with Energy Supply personnel to determine required changes and communicate those requirements to development.
Liaise with IS (Information Systems) personnel, external consultants, system architects and developers. Ensure solutions are thoroughly tested and documented. Prepare and maintain process documentation.
Ensure technology projects and business processes are appropriately integrated to meet Energy Supplys operational requirements and established objectives, and to effectively manage risks.
Perform other assigned duties as required

Requirements

Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems or in Commerce/Business (with relevant business/systems experience) from a recognized program plus a minimum of four (4) years recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience in the natural gas industry, and with energy trading and risk management (ETRM) systems, is an asset.

Technical Competencies:
Knowledge of relational database concepts and proficiency in supporting database systems, including proficiency in writing SQL queries.
Knowledge of project management procedures and practices.
Demonstrated ability to collect and reconcile information, analyze problems, and develop solutions.
Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage priorities, and meet deadlines within demanding work schedules.
Demonstrated ability to use personal influence to achieve positive working relationships and maintain a collaborative work environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; proven capacity to be a self-starter.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate and organized documentation and written reports.
Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment in the handling of confidential information.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio.
