Intent of the process ANTICIPATORY STAFFING:
This is an inventory process. Pools of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff positions on an indeterminate, term , deployment, assignment, secondment or acting basis. Applications will be forwarded to the hiring manager on an as needed basis. Positions to be filled:

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications) OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possession of a Valid Certificate of Competency as Master, 150T Domestic with Contiguous Waters Endorsement or higher, STCW endorsement

Depending on the position being staffed, any of the asset qualifications may also be deemed as an essential qualification and only candidates and persons with a priority entitlement who possess those qualifications will be considered for that specific vacancy. Possession of a Valid Certificate of Competency as Master, 500T Domestic with Contiguous Waters Endorsement or higher, STCW endorsement
EXPERIENCE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Candidates must clearly demonstrate in the screening questions how they meet the occupational certification and experience factors listed in the ESSENTIAL AND ASSET qualifications. Candidates must indicate that they hold a valid certificate and use each experience factor as a header with one or two paragraphs for each factor describing their experience using concrete examples. Candidates must give a detailed account (with substantial depth and breadth) of their experience as it relates to the factor being assessed. This applies for both the ESSENTIAL and ASSET Qualifications. Lack of examples or details may result in your application being rejected as the Assessment Board will have insufficient information to determine if the requirement is met.
Experience as a Commanding Officer on a Small Fleet Coast Guard vessel involved in one or more of the following operations:
- Search and Rescue
- Conservation and Protection
Successful completion of Simulated Electronic Navigation 1 (SEN 1) training.
Experience on Fishing Vessels.
Experience in carrying out the requirements of the ships Safety Management System
Successful completion of the Small Vessel Command Course
Valid Marine Advanced First Aid
Membership in one of the designated Employee Equity Groups
- Ability to report to vessel at short notice
- Ability to satisfy the requirements of the vessels competency profile
- Willingness to work overtime when required
Conditions of employment
Secret security clearance
- Valid Health Canada Medical for seagoing personnel
- Valid Certificate of Competency
- Willingness to go to sea for prolonged periods of time (including Arctic Waters) and in adverse weather conditions
- Willingness to be deployed
- Willingness to properly wear and maintain a uniform
- Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Coast Guard standards
- Willingness to travel by air, land and sea
- Compliance with the CCG Safety Management System and Standards
- Adherence to Canadian Coast Guard Respiratory Protection Program
- For vessels assigned primarily to Search and Rescue operations, employees must be within 30 minutes response time to the vessel during assigned work period.
- Valid Canadian Passport (for identified positions)

Salary for SO-MAO-04 - $35.01 to $39.10 per hour.
Salary for SO-MAO-06 - $39.14 to $43.39 per hour.
