As a summer student, you will be given meaningful, productive and challenging assignments while being introduced to a career in municipal government. In this position you will assist with the development of various emergency management, business continuity and emergency social services (ESS) activities and projects. Specific duties of this position include:
Research, collection and analysis of data for best practices and innovation in emergency management, business continuity and emergency social services.
Develop various technical documents, including plans, check sheets and procedures.
Assist in the development and delivery of training to our team and agency members related to emergency response activities.
Support the operational readiness of our Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs) and our Emergency Social Services resources.
Assist with business continuity and project planning for resilience.
Support and participate in community education and awareness initiatives.
Enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Emergency Management, Social Sciences, Business or a related field.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
A valid Class 5 Drivers Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than six demerits.
Access to a personal vehicle is considered an asset.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis with the intent to return to school full-time in the Fall of 2020.
An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
