Magnetawan First Nation (MFN) is an Ojibwe First Nation community in Ontario, Canada. The community is situated on reserve lands in Britt, Ontario. It consists of one main reserve called Magnetawan 1 with a total population of 238 and a land area of approx. 47.21 sq. km. The Reserve is located approx. 6 km east of Georgian Bay.
Manages the financial aspects of Magnetawan First Nation including finalizing the preparation of financial data such as projection, actual and summary reportsPrepare or co-ordinate the preparation of monthly financial statements, summaries, and other cost-benefit analyses and financial management reports for Chief and CouncilPrepare payroll, benefits and insurancePrepares all financial information (i.e., Bank reconciliation, financial reports)Updates and maintains communication regarding payment and invoice proceduresOversee and direct annual budgeting, audit, accounting, purchasing and long range forecasting for the Magnetawan First NationCoordinate Indian Norther Affairs Canada and other funding program reportingDevelop and maintain Financial Policies and ProceduresRecords and distributes revenues per approved budgets and funding agreementsMaintains Housing Finance records (rental and arrears reports)Must hold a professional accounting designation or equivalent Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration * -Must have a minimum of three years experience managing a First Nation Finance Department * -Must be bondable * -Knowledge and experience in internal audit and management systems * -Excellent communication and organizational skills * -Ability to work independently and within a team * -Knowledge of GAAP * -Able to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to staff and leadership
