Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Be familiar and in accordance with the mandate, practices and philosophies of the Centre;
  • Maintains knowledge about and complies with Day Care Act and Regulations, Family Matters Policies and Procedures, and Family Home Day Care Program Regulations
  • Completes duties in Day Care Act as agency duties and as licensee
  • Recruits and approves up to 12 care providers and Family Day Homes and monitors these homes in accordance with the Act and its regulations, the funding agreement, the service agreement between each care provider and Family Matters, and the standards as established by the minister
  • Ensure Family Day Homes meet the standards by providing program ideas and support at monthly home visits
  • Reports any financial documents to the Executive Staff, human resource concerns to the Human Resource Director and program concerns or partnership opportunities to the Program and Partnerships Director
  • Attend monthly one-on-one meetings, team meetings and regular scheduled staff meetings
  • Maintains positive staff interactions helping in Special Events, assist in organizing/cleaning office space and other staff activities set out by Executive Staff
  • Prepares reports and makes application for subsidy payments
  • Requests Equipment purchases through Executive Staff
  • Maintains updated inventory records of supplies and equipment, ensuring minimum storage at Family Matters office
  • Provides regular updates on program and agency activities through a monthly report presented to the board
  • assists with appropriate officials and Executive Staff in meeting annual licensing requirement
  • Maintains a healthy and safe environment, and ensures agencys compliance with fire, safety and health regulations
  • Communicates openly, positively and frequently with staff at Family Matters, Care Providers and parents
  • Deals with parent complaints/concerns/comments
  • Acts as liaison between agency and community
  • Annually reviews and evaluates the Parent Policy Manual and recommends changes to the Board through the Executive Staff
  • Works with care providers to maintain maximum enrolment
  • Keeps care providers updated on policies, procedures, changes, admissions, current field research and ideas through regular care provider meetings and communication
  • Meets Yearly with Family Home Day Care Team to evaluate programs and supports offered to Care Providers
  • Plans and arranges training workshops for agency staff and care providers
  • maintains confidential personnel records in relation to agency staff and care providers
  • Maintains confidentiality of information relating to children, families, staff of the Agency

Academic / Educational Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education - College or University: Level II or III & a minimum of two years experience

Required skills and Experience

  • Sound knowledge of the policies, procedures and philosophy of the Agency/Day Care
  • Experience in childhood education;
  • Being a Team Player
  • Experience in leadership;
  • Knowledge of early literacy best practices (preferably the Hanen model);
  • Ability to develop, coordinate and implement the delivery of early learning curriculum;
  • Ability to maintain program statistics for the purpose of evaluation and research;
  • First Aid
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Criminal record check;
  • Child abuse registry check;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Reliable transportation and valid drivers license;
  • Commitment to continuous learning.
