Job Description


Trade Winds to Success Training Society provides pre-apprenticeship training to Albertas Indigenous people in the urban settings of Edmonton and Calgary and in our Community Workforce Development program to individual First Nations and Metis communities throughout Alberta. We are currently recruiting for a Journeyman Carpenter for our Community Workforce Development program. This position is responsible for providing instruction following the Trade Winds Tiny Home training curriculum to Indigenous clients and overseeing the building of tiny homes and other construction projects in First Nation and Metis communities.


  • Journeyman Carpenter certification
  • Knowledge of Alberta Building Code standards
  • Recent experience working in residential construction
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • 2-3 years experience instructing and coaching adult learners
  • Ability to organize and supervise a class of up to 15 carpentry starters
  • Willingness to work and stay in First Nations/Metis communities across Alberta for two- month periods of time
  • Class 5 license, clean drivers abstract, and ability to travel
  • Experience working with Indigenous clients and in Indigenous communities is an asset

Salary: $70,000-75,000. This is a full-time position with optional benefit program. Travel and accommodation will be reimbursed.
