Construction Materials Testing company looking to add another technician to our team. We are looking for somebody who understands the importance of teamwork and communication to ensure the success of our company.
The successful candidate must show initiative and be comfortable working independently.
Travel to various construction sites throughout the lower mainland and carry out testing of soil, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with ASTM/CSA test methods.
Work in the laboratory as required (sieve/proctor testing of sampled soil and aggregate materials, asphalt Marshall and Superpave testing, compressive strength testing of concrete cylinders, etc.)
Keep organized and detailed records of test results
Maintain a positive rapport and working relationship with new and existing clients
Demonstrate responsibility for personal safety; attend site specific safety orientation as required
Weekend work as required; possibility of overnight work during busy paving season (summer)
Some heavy lifting required; must be physically able to carry moderately heavy (approx. 50 lbs) equipment over rough terrain, into/out of trenches, etc.
Previous experience (2+ years) in a similar role preferred. However, training can be provided for the right individual who demonstrates a desire to learn and advance in our field.
Knowledge of soils (specifically properties of different soils and an understanding of the moisture-density relationship) and correct sampling procedures
Experience with concrete sampling and testing in a timely and accurate fashion.
Experience sampling asphalt and working around paving equipment. Experience working with a Portable Nuclear Gauge for soil density and asphalt density testing.
Current CCIL certification an asset (concrete, asphalt, or aggregates)
Current TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification an asset. Class 5 (or equivalent) driver license.

YOU MUST LIVE IN THE LOWER MAINLAND OF BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
Strong communication skills; ability to speak/read/write fluently in English. Local to the Maple Ridge area (preferred) Starting wage for this position will depend on experience, but will start no lower than $20/hour. We offer a full benefits package after three months of employment.
Company vehicle is provided for all travel to sites. All work local to the lower mainland, no out of town travel.
