As a Mechanical Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the mechanical and operational integrity of City owned facilities. You will work to ensure efficient and safe operation through proper preventative maintenance and timely and effective mechanical repairs and upgrades. Primary duties include:
Maintain and repair arena and pool systems including taking pH and chlorine samples, monitoring and adjusting pressure differential and carbon dioxide (CO2) levels.
Perform required repairs on components such as ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems and chemical feed pumps.
Complete preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment including changing filters and belts, lubricating motors and pumps and changing pump seals.
Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair HVAC systems including boiler systems, motors and pumps.
Perform additional duties including: ordering parts, entering changes into the Building Automation System and performing minor repairs such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, light changes and electrical.
Working Conditions: You will be exposed to CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), chemicals in pools, frequent heat, cold, noise, dust and wet conditions. Performing work in confined spaces will be required.
A High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) and a current standardized new (since 1998) Alberta Boilers Safety Association of Alberta (ABSA) 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency.
Current Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level C , and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications.
A valid Class 5 Drivers License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
Preference will be given to applicants with pool and arena operations maintenance experience along with refrigeration systems experience.
A security clearance will be conducted.
Must obtain a City of Calgary operators permit
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
Pre-employment Drug Test:
An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Must be willing to accept on-call rotations for evening and weekend coverage
