Overview
Dillon is a well established, employee-owned professional consulting firm operating across Canada and internationally. We provide a wide range of consulting and design services related to the infrastructure, real estate, resource, industrial and government sectors in Canada and abroad.

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Structural Engineer in our Sydney office.

Responsibilities
Structural design and analysis of bridges, buildings, industrial projects and marine structures
Management of structural engineering projects and development of cost-effective design solutions
Collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams including transportation, municipal and structural engineers, transportation systems planners, land use planners, environmental scientists and technical support staff
Preparation of proposals, design criteria, preliminary designs, detailed engineering specifications, and reports
Technical guidance and mentoring of project team members including engineers and technical support staff
Liaison with clients, government and regulatory authorities, and contractors
Development and enhancement of client relationships and business growth
Business travel upon request
Qualifications
A degree in civil engineering
Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Nova Scotia, or eligible to be licensed within six months
5-7 years relevant structural design experience
Experience
Demonstrated success in the leadership of structural project teams and the management of structural engineering projects
Experience in the structural design of bridges and transportation structures or in the structural design of industrial and commercial buildings and liquid-retaining structures
Knowledge of relevant structural engineering codes and standards
Familiarity with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD or PCA software, as well as proficiency in current AutoCAD and building systems software is desirable

Experience in:
wharf structures, bridge design and project management
construction contract administration would be an asset
heavy industrial including mining or manufacturing projects would be an asset
building and facilities for government, real estate and resource projects would be an asset
Strong interpersonal, communications, organization and time management skills
