Job Description

LaPrairie Rock offers expertise in materials engineering including, concrete, asphaltic concrete, rail ballast, sand and various construction related materials and supply.

At LaPrairie Rock we provide a full range of aggregate and resource materials production services. We are equipped to handle every phase of the materials engineering process, from initial exploration to delivery of the end-product.

Currently, we are looking to hire a Superintendent Field Operations.

The Superintendent, Field Operations, under the direction of the Vice-President, will primarily be responsible for operational coordination, mechanical maintenance, production optimization and project management of LaPrairie Rock Products operations. This position will oversee staff to ensure work is being performed according to the company mandate.

Job Duties

Manage multiple operational projects for LaPrairie Rock Products
Develop and implement sound operational strategies for aggregates processing, pit production, product stockpiling, and equipment resource optimization.
Demonstrate positive leadership and a strong business ethic in relationships with employees, suppliers, and clients.
Contribute to the development and adherence to operational and mechanical policies, standard operating procedures, and production equipment maintenance systems to support our projects and optimize work programs.
Monitor daily production levels, project budget milestones and operational and product QA/QC performance to ensure the department is meeting or exceeding project deliverables.
Analyze and report on the departments daily, monthly, and annual key performance indicators.
Receive and handle customer inquiries and complaints proactively and contribute to timely solutions any problems or concerns.
Support field operations and process daily production reports to facilitate on-time billing and customer invoicing.
Review project production cost reports to monitor and manage project budget / expense controls.
Examine various reports (e.g., inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities of the company and to maximize performance.
Monitor employee performance in the field and employ appropriate measures to address substandard results.
Ensure that company policies and procedures are emphasized and followed.
Ensure the effectiveness of employees through strategic hiring, focused equipment training and competency assessments, appropriate assignment of duties, documented progressive discipline, and dismissal when appropriate.
Provide leadership and coaching to field supervision and production crews.
Regular travel to various work locations is expected.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum of three years of experience in a management role.
Five or more years of experience in the aggregate industry, preference will be given to those with experience in crushing operations.
Strong working knowledge of aggregate crushing operations.
Proven experience with resource management.
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports.
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees.

Work Conditions

Flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Overtime as required.
Ability and willingness to travel. The successful incumbent must be able to travel and manage multiple locations throughout the western provinces.
