Under the general direction of Director of the Community Services and the immediate supervision of the Shelter coordinator, the Control Officer is responsible to provide control and security services on the overnight in YSB shelters in accordance with policies and directives established within the YSB.Principal Duties:
Provide unit coverage on a rotational shift basis ensuring the safety and security of staff, clients and physical plant.Monitor movement/admission of all staff, residents and visitors.Respond to emergency alarms and notify/access appropriate resourcesMonitor security systems, cameras and review footage when necessarySupport general cleanliness and maintenance of the facilityFollow procedures and instructions in a precise manner and respond appropriately and calmly in emergency or crisis situationsReceive and screen visitors and callers in a professional manner while meeting the security needs of the ShelterLiaison and communicate with and, when required, shadow Youth workers in order to maintain safety of the buildingAttend and participate in supervisionParticipate in on-going training as requiredFollow safe work practices and procedure as established by YSB and the boardJob Specifications/Qualifications:

College diploma in Law & Security or related field or equivalentOne year related experienceExperience using security cameras and monitoring video surveillanceKnowledge of client population and community servicesAbility to support crisis events in appropriate mannerAbility to work autonomously and as an effective team memberProven written and verbal communication skillsFluency in English is essential; French will be considered an assetFemaleDisclaimer:
